Gander sale,shorts in a knot
« on: February 09, 2005, 05:16:21 PM »
Please tell me the difference in the .17 cal's ? Gander has them for $119.I hunt chucks ,yotes and plink  some, which is better and which ammo is cheaper?

Could anyone tell me if either one is on a SB-2 frame where I could order a .50 ML or  shotgun or rifle barrel?

BTW the Turkey vests are really worth the money,$20 0r $10 with seat and all.

all the best,
lizzzard

The 17HMR is a rimfire round and would be OK on ground hogs but it is NOT an SB2 receiver.

I say Ok cause I think they are tough critters.  if you want to add barrels later, get a 22 hornet.  I've killed groundhogs with rimfires before but head shots are the only QUICK kill with a rimfire.  Otherwise they'll make it back to the hole and die slowly.  I don't know how goow the HMR would be on a head shot.  That bullet is fragile.

You have to buy a centerfire RIFLE to get an SB2.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
