I use my 45-70 16" Contender to hunt deer.  Don't mind the recoil  for hunting. Plan on getting a 460 S&W barrel . I can shoot  45 Colt and 454 Casull in the same barrel which I think makes it the most sensible large cal. pistol round.......IMHO

forgot to mention, don't like recoil in a rifle, did't  like 30-06 or 7mm Rem mag. Shoot 7mm-08, 270 WSM. and 243 now for deer. :(

I like to practice at the range(golf went to !!!!) I put muzzle brakes on my 7mm mag and 338 mag. It works fine for me at my age, and I could care less on the comments against them. Want to level the playing field? Every one shoots with tri-focals.

Tri-focals? Durn, Jim, that's ugly. Bifocals is bad enough. People think I'm depressed when I walk down stairs because I have to put my chin on my chest to see where I'm putting my feet!
