Nothing yet in the Moderators forum, he posted earlier this week that he would check in as soon as he got home today or tomorrow depending on what the doc found.

I heard the old fart survived.  :-D

Heart cath showed no blockages or other heart damage. Other than a bit of soreness in groin where they stuck the needle for probe I'm fine as far as after effects of procedure go.

I still have the shortness of breath issue that started me down this path that led to the heart cath. I've not yet been able to talk with either of my doctors about why tests showed the apparent heart problems but this test revealed no problems. That will come I guess in about two weeks when I meet with the cardiologist and I've got to schedule another appointment with my GP also to see what's next in tracing down what is wrong with me and what it's gonna take to fix me so I can walk more than 50 yards without having to sit and rest to get my breath back. It has made any serious hunting about impossible and made even walking down range to change targets a chore.

Bill, I've had problems for over 20yrs with GERD or acid reflux, been to doctors, all they did was recommend Maalox....never solved the problem, just treated the symptom. Then about a year ago, I tried one of the over the counter treatments for acid reflux, Prylocek OTC I think it was....worked like a charm! Now I buy generic 75mg Ranitidine for $6 a hundred and I haven't had a problem since, 1 tablet a day is all it took. Boy, all the years I spent with that terrible burning is just an unpleasant memory.....no more of that for me.
I'd check with your doc before trying it, but it sure has worked well for me.

Never heard of this Ranitidine before. Will look into it. I take Prevacid which is basically same as prilosec. Did take prilosec for awhile also. It takes pretty good care of me as long as I try to avoid the things that upset me the worst and don't go to bed too soon after eating. But no matter what I take there are just somethings my body will not allow and a lot of garlic is one of them.

GB you can get garlic in tablit form as a diet suppliment.  They may not play havic with the gut like eating the real thing does.

I take a 1000mg garlic oil capsule once a day, along with a cup of Tazo China Green Tips green tea, have lowered my total cholesterol level to 147 from 250+ in a little over a year, no other diet in effect. Doc was real proud of my diet, but no diet, to speak of, just walking a lot. The worst the garlic causes is a strong taste of garlic if I burp before breakfast.

GB,
Glad the heart cath turned out OK.  Did you have a stress test?  If so did they find anything.  3 years ago I finally decided to see the doc about why I was getting so short of breath when I walked or climbed stairs.  Took a stress test on a Thurs.  Next day on Friday went to OKCity for heart cath, etc.  Next day, Sat. had 5 bypasses.  Wham, bamm, thank you mamm.  Everything OK now.  I walk 10-12 miles every week.  My only job now is to get up, get dressed, get a cupa coffee and go walk my 2-3 miles.  5 days a week.  Get Sat and Sun off.  Best job I ever had. :)  You get that thing checked out real good, fixin one is a lot harder than doing a trigger job.  :D

The stress test preceeded the heart cath. It was abnormal and indicated the need for the heart cath. They also did EKG and Echo gram and still decided to do the cath. The cath says no blockages at all. Clear. At least that's what Faye said the doctor told her. So the folks who are paid to know say the heart isn't my problem.

I now have to work with other doctors to determine what is the cause of my shortness of breath.

Well good news that they haven't found a heart problem; Bad news is they don't know whats ailing you.
Doctors are only as good as their patients allow them to be, so you be a good boy and give the MD's a chance to get you figured out and patched up. God is the Great Healer, and He will succeed where the others fail.

GB,  If the stress test was abnormal I would get a second opinion if the first didn't find anything.  We ain't messin around with 22RF here, this is the big bore job.  My symptoms sounded just like yours and I never ever not one time did I have a chest pain but had 90% plus blockage on the whole left side of my heart.  The heart doc said not everyone has angina pain, course I had a history of heart problems in my family, so I was alookin out for somethign like that.  Take care now.   :D

I take that myself Quick...My Dr. had me on Previcid...they work great!! The price is rediculous though!!! I found those Ranitidine tabs and told my Dr. About it...he said if it works...great. Instead of 100 plus bucks a month for 30 of the previcid...about 6 bucks.a hundred for the Ranitidine.... dang pharmacutical companies!!  Take an asprin a day and watch my diet...( I try to anyway! ) Colestorol was 185 last time I had it checked....good colestorol was good! ....I lost a third of the capacity of my heart in 1999 due to a clot in bottom of my heart....couldn't fish it out in time...no chest pain....just couldn't take in a full breath....felt clammy.... :(

 It works great for me, and ta think those Doctors, several and a myriad of tests never told them a thing! Glad yer still around to enjoy life, things don't always go as planned. My huntin & fishin partner spent the weekend in the hospital last summer from a block artery, got a stent installed and put on special meds, now he's 100%, good for another 30 years of huntin and fishin with me!!!

I met with my cardiologist yesterday. The story he told me was some different than the one Faye said he told her last Friday.

I do have several blockages. I think the majority of them are correctly called pulmonary irregularities. These are the very earliest stages of blockages. One on the left side of my heart however had a 20% blockage. At this time no action to correct this is indicated he says. In addition to that the echo gram showed that the walls of my heart have thickened from the very high blood pressure over a long time.

Today I met with my GP to continue the program we have begun to define what is causing the shortness of breath I am experiencing. He has me set up for a pulmonary function test on Friday and then I will be seeing a pulmonary specialist to follow that up.

I've now got two new medications to take on top of the double handful I already take. One of them is Lipator to drive down my cholesterol and I think he said the other one is to further help the three BP meds I'm now on to lower my BP still more. Even taking three different meds for it I still have high blood pressure.

No definitive reason has been found so far for the shortness of breath I'm experiencing. So testing will continue.
