If your in a beaver area that has no natural beaver do you make artifical mound?.Some says this runs off the beaver in the area?
I have caught 3 beaver with in 100yds. with my scent mounds the frist night ,after that  the ones left wouldnt work my mounds. They were  already  natural mounds there. I caught the rest in runs.

Myself Howell I always make artificial castor sets.  It lets me dictate where to set the trap.

I dont seem to have any problems with it.  Those same beaver that wouldnt work your mounds maybe would not have worked a natural one either.

Howell,I set castor mounds anywhere I want.I dont worry whether the beaver are making their own or not. If I find a huge natural mound I will usually set ti,when I say huge--I am talking a foot or 2 high. Those that are being used by many beaver and have been for a long time.
I also make my own near these large natural mounds. This can really infuriate the local beavers.
I sure am glad more beaver trappers are joining in.
