I'm currently using good 29dB muffs and double plugging with foam plugs. What have you learned about those new muffs that add white noise? Are they an improvement over my method? Thanks.

White noise----don't really know what that is(the science behind it), heard of that before, a sound that counteracts another sound, think about it, 2 sounds hitting your ears.

But more curious about what you re calling "double plugging?
What is that?

Let me break my opinion down for you.
Minimum for firing 22long rifle rimfires---foam plugs.

But honestly I prefer plugs and muffs for all target shooting,, When hunting , at least foam plugs for rimfires, Muffs for centerfire rounds.

Understand, ANY hearing loss is permanent, once lost ya can NEVER get it back !

Double plugging is using foam ear plugs or other ear plugs and ear muffs together. It makes quite a difference when shooting at indoor ranges.

:oops: Just continue using the plugs and muffs. BUY THE BEST YOU CAN AFFORD, and maybe you won't have the problems hearing that some of us old farts have. Muffs are a lot cheaper than hearing aids.........
