I have been shooting the 10ga. for 10 or so years now and find the recoil to be that of a heavy hitting 12. I think your red dot will be fine

Welcome Brasskeeper! go to www.hr1871.com and click the link for the barrel accessory program. Its pretty cut and dry. If you still got questions ask away. Somebody here has probably done what you want to do. Is the 12 ga you speak of an ultra slugger? They are the only 12ga that can be fitted with a 10ga barrel.

Hey brasskeeper, just like markus said ,go to h and r 1871 and print out a order form. Then package the forearm , receiver ,buttstock, check or money order and take it to the post office and have them mail it. I got insurance on mine and delivery confirmation  for a total of  about 15.00. Now the hardest part , waiting  for it to come!! Any more help needed just give a holler.GOOD HUNTIN!!
