night vision digital vs. optic
« on: February 04, 2005, 05:25:10 PM »
I have been looking at some night vision equipment, just for fun use.   The gen 2 & 3 are way out of my price range.  I see the gen 1's , and this new digital night vision monoculars, that advertise to be as clear as gen 2 or 3's at the same price.  How good are they? Has anyone used the new digital ones?

I honestly have no idea given that I have never used these types of optics, but I too would like to use them - for fun that is.

I was hunting last year at a ranch in Texas where it is legal to shoot hogs at night.  Unfortunately the ranch did not allow any hunting at night because they said that they didn't want to distrub the deer hunting the next day.  In any event, I would have liked to use such night vision optics to see where the hogs were feeding and traveling so that I could hunt that particular area the next day.

I wonder - if a game warden stopped me, would I get in trouble for doing that?
