For those interested in shooting the match this year or for those just finding out about it. Give your Wesson & Harrington 1871 Buffalo Classic 45-70 a try. Notice the rifles that are on the give away list IF your door prize ticket is drawn.

I sure wish I could make that this year....too many get togethers going on in June and July...PD Hunt in June and two family reunions end of June and first of July.....2 family birthdays in in June and Grandsons BD in July :cry:

There is always room for spectacles, I mean spectators

Now even if I was not in the competing mood.... :shock: I would still do it for the cost of only $20.00 for the whole match :shock: AND the fact that everyone competing gets a chance at their ticket being drawn for one of those very fine rifles. Those have been donated for door prizes and not awarded to the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place winners.

Heck all ya got ta do is throw lead down range, it don't even have to hit the targets :-D

The main thing is to come and have fun... I'm loading enough 45-2.4" (45-90) and 45-2.1" (45-70) cartridges, plus will have the ability to reload on site

I will have my Remington Rolling Block 45-90 and may also have a C. Sharps 45-70 that my son will be using. But there will plenty of time before and after the match to shoot at some gong targets just for fun

I may try to make that. Its hard to read the poster, where is the match? I am about 300 miles from the Montana border. (east).

I have every intention of coming and shooting, but ya never know what will happen between now and then. The better half would love to see Montana so we're tentatively taking a week and either beginning or ending with the shoot.

What is the course of fire? What targets at what ranges?

Will a 38-55 have the oomph to shoot the course?

In years past the closest target was 225 but that was changed for this years match.

Closest target 350 to be shot off hand, next:

368 off X shooting sticks
408 " "
570 " "
583 " "
804 " "

I would not expect a 38-55 to reach the 804 yard target, BUT what I have stressed in the past about this is the FUN you will have trying. The other thing is your door ticket for competing could be drawn and you could be handed a brand new Shiloh, Pedersoli Sharps or Ballard High-wall These rifles are donated for competitors not those who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd those winners plaques
