Rem Mod 7 in 260 Remington

Just bought the wife a Remington model 7 stainless synthetic in 260 Rem. She plans on using this for varmints, antelope and deer. Picked up a Leopold 3.5x10 scope at the gun show and was wondering if anyone knew if they make dual dovetail bases for the model 7? Any comments on the cartridge performance or rifle would be appreciated.

Low recoil, should not need dual bases. Very nice caliber, good knockdown, user friendly, very accurate.

I have had good luck with Weaver bases and rings or Weaver bases and Millet Angle-Lock rings. I am partial to the Millet rings because they allow some windage adjustment front and rear and are fairly solid for low and medium recoiling calibers. Plus you can get the Millet engraved rings that look pretty good for a stamp engraved product.
My son's Model 7 in 6.5-.284 uses the standard Millet setup with engraved rings to hold a Leupold 2.5x8 Vari X III. It has a little more recoil than the .260 and it holds fine.

DakotaMike...My brother and a hunting buddy both own Model 7s...
One in a 7mm-08 and one in .260...The Leupold base that fits a
Model 7 is the same as the Remington center fire target pistol...Its a
one piece base...I can try and get the Leupold number from my hunting
buddy..we went through this a couple of years ago with his .260...Unless
things have changed, they don't offer a 2 piece base...
PS...I found it on the Leupold Site...the Dual Dovetail for a Model 7...also
fits the Remington XP-100 Target pistol...it is a one piece mount...and the
only dual dovetail listed for a Model 7...Leupolds part number is 53570

Varmints? Really? I thought the .260 would be too heavy for varmint...
Congrats on the new gun. Hope it serves ya well.
