Smallbore Thumbhole Stock??
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:06:24 AM »
I'm confused after reading the rules for small bore?  In NRA Silhouette, is a thumbhole stock OK in both classes or just standard and NOT hunter?  Is a replacement stock OK as long as it conforms to the Hunter dimensions and weight.  I want to build 1 gun for both classes, but I prefer a thumbhole.

it is my understanding that a thumbhole stock is not allowed for the hunter class.  you can, however, use a replacement stock for hunter as long as it is a "hunting style" stock and, of course, your rifle can make weight with it.  personal preference aside, with the great quality and design of custom hunter stocks currently being made available there is no real need for a thumbhole.
