10 is better than 9 or why I now have a new lever gun
« on: February 09, 2003, 06:44:18 AM »
I had been using my Marlin 1894 in .38/.357 for CAS.  Fine gun except it only held 9 shots and my fat fingers and the small loading gate were not exactually made for each other.
Found a Marlin 94 in .45LC with a 24" barrel on the internet.  Got it a couple of days ago and I'm in love.  I just like the looks of the gun with this longer barrel (other has a 18" or so).  And the big old .45LC rounds load wonderfully.  Now all I have to do is wait for my shoulder to heal enough to take it out for a drive.  Can't wait.

I have the Marlin too, I can get 10 38's in mine OAL is the key. But then I'll file that away for a reason to buy a 44-40. Hopin my wife will want the 38's.  Good Luck with your shoulder I'm having trouble too but luckily its my left shoulder.  Charlie Bull

The reason the .38 Marlin only holds 9 is that it has an 18" barrel.  If it were 20" it would hold 10.
