    i got back to the gun shop today and the model 66 is mine. after i tried the trigger the revolver would not leave my hand, and on the way to the counter two boxes of shells jumped in to my coat pocket.
     anyhow i was wondering about all these #'s adt23xx and 557xx, anyone know year and mo. of manufacture? the factory wood grips are stamped 01-16-84, sound right?
     any help greatly excepted.
P.S. sorry graybeard 6this revolver wanted to stay in vermont! if i see more i'll give you a pm. 8)

Charlie you should be ashamed. Subjecting that nice gun to those harsh cold winters up there when it could have been basking in the sunshine in the deep south instead. It's gonna hate you for making it freeze rather than being nice and warm.  :-D

congrats charlie, on the 66, have you tried the smith & wesson site,

I looked at what must be the last year issue today a model 66-7 and seems like there are some diff. that I'm not to sure about. not as much polishing as the older models, mostly on hidden frame areas and a barrel insert? need to do more reading on the specs. and details or just fine an older one like yours. Did see the 66-6 and going to go back and look it over once more. Good Luck with yours
