I see a trend
« on: February 07, 2005, 08:37:47 PM »
A lot of gun makers seem to be dropping this or that model only to bring it back in the future. I know this has always been going on, just it seems they pick up and do a run of chamberings of models more often. I just ordered a 94 win Traditional in 44 mag because I was told it was discontinued. I called all over wyo and south MT, nothing. Called wal-mart and they said they still had some in stock somewhere. We will see about that I guess, still ain't here. Maybe they figured it out, nothing prompts a purchase like the thought of not being able to find a new one at a later date.

I think they are figuring out that if they are only going to sell a few hundred rifles of a particular configuration, they can market it as a limited production, produce the projected number they'll sell, jack up the price a little since it's "special edition" and carry on.  Besides, if everybody had an octagon-barreled lever gun, it wouldn't be special, would it?  Now, if I can only save up for a Marlin 1895 .45-70 with 26 inch octagon barrel before they disappear. . .

I think they fully intend to bring it back as soon as the ones they make sell out. Heck, Winchester just made a new batch of M92's for non-catalog sales. They are also discontinuing the 9422, but I'm sure it will be back just as soon as the current batch is sold out.
If God wanted plastic stocks he would have made plastic trees.
