I like my Handi Hornet better than my .223 Handi.

I only use a Lee collet neck sizer when I reload, which makes it faster and less messy.  I get 100 yard groups of 1" or less with 40 gr V-Max and 13.5 gr Lil'Gun in Rem brass and CCI 400 primer.  I use an OAL of about 1.9"

I've got one...erh..bought one for my son.  I...erh..he..hasn't shot it yet, so I can't comment that much about it.

I was curious about the freebore on these - I loaded up some shells for it with several different different bullets - all with H110 powder (already had it).

The 1.9" length is about average for the O.A.L.'s I've loaded.

Trigger seems a bit on the heavy side - I'm a tinkerer - probably won't be heavy for long.

I knew an old guy[40 yearsago] who used it [BRNO] for deer hunting- and he shot an awful lot of big bucks , too. He'd take his time, pick his shot[neck usually] and drop them in their tracks.Hesaid he shot better because he didn't flinch with the low recoil. He wouldn't take a marginal shot, or  shoot over 100 yards.

Now you have me concerned. I was thinking of getting a Handi Rifle in .223 because of the vast quanities of cheap ammo that's out there. I have known people in my neck of the woods who use .22 Hornet for deer as well. Some even use it for head shots on hogs.

.22 Hornet is nice, .223 is nice with inexpensive and accurate ammo available everywhere....<><....

OK then let me ask this... Has anyone had any experience with the chamber adapters that allow you to shoot a .22 LR in Hornet or a .223?

There's a guy in Alaska that makes them, I see he advertises in "Backwoodsman" Magazine.

none here, with so much inexpensive .223 ammo around there is not much of a need to shoot .22 LR's out of it. Save the money and buy a .22 Sportster to shoot the  the .22's out of....<><.... :)

Accuracy of a 22Lr in a .223 barrel would be minimal at best as the bore size is different.

I like my two hornets.  Probably the "handiest" of the calibers I shoot since they handle 98% of my hunting needs.....small game thru fall turkey.  It's legal here in PA for deer, but haven't heard about anyone using it on them for years around here.  Which is a good thing.  When I load for it, I just necksize it a little.  Don't even use lube, just dip the mouth of the case in some powdered graphite.

I like my Handi Hornet, it's synthetic/blue. I haven't shot it much, but when I do, it's a hoot!

I've shot the Remington offering and the Hornady 35 gr. Vmax, they both shoot fine for me out to 100 yards. And I am here to tell ya, the 35 gr. Hornady devestates filled water bottles!
