Rossi .357single shot with 21 grns of H110!!!!
« on: December 30, 2004, 04:46:35 AM »
Hello, I am new here. I just got my Rossi single shot in .357 mag. back in October at a gunshow. It is a nice little rifle. I only paid $152.00.

Has any one tried this load in a Rossi single shot. I have with great success in mine. No signs of high pressure. It is very accurate. I got the formula from Lymans 48th.

Sounds kinda too hot to me. Hornady says 19.4 MAX and you're more than 10% higher. I've had one come apart in my hands and survived it. I'm a bit more cautious these days.

That is a perfectly allowable MAX load according to Hodgdon's data.
I actually shoot 21.0gr of H110 over a 125gr XTP in my Rossi 971 revolver at least 80% of the time I shoot it & this gun has several THOUSAND rounds through it.

Remember each firearm has its own max limit, so work up slowly.
Go MAGNUM/MAX LOAD or GO HOME !
Always use MUCH more gun than the minimum required to do the job.

Frosty
I have a 357 rossi single shot rifle i wanted to shoot the heavier bullets in it. I have tried 5 or 6 loads with 180-200 gr bullets all the bullets tumble and keyhole at 40 yards the 158 and lighter work great .Have you or anyone tried the heavy bullets I think the twist is too slow ( 1-18 ).
