I am going to post this here and in the lever gun area. I have an Armi San Marco copy of a 92 Winchester...I really like this gun. 24" barrel tapered octogon.  I am trying to find info on this gun to no avail..I know that Dixie Gunworks  was the importer.
How strong is this gun.. I am wondering because I have some 45 colt loads that I would like to try for pig hunting and I dont want to shoot them through this if it wont take the heat.. I have a 94 that I am sure will so they wont go to waist.

The 92 action is one of the stronger ones around. One of the current importers is peddling a 92 in .454 Casull. If your load is hotter than that, I wouldn't try it!

Max loads for 92

  I had no idea that the 92 would be as strong if not stronger than the 94.
I have some loads that I worked up a couple of years ago for a 45 Blackhawk that are just sittin there.  I wanted to make sure that the rifle would take them.. I am fairly sure they will.
23.0 grs 296 Win
250 gr Hornady XTP

This load was 1300 fps out of a 4 5/8 Bh.

I didn't realize that either. I used it to determine to get a 73 for deer. I used some on the ballistic data in the text and decided that since all of my shots on my place are 75 yards max, it would do fine. I was right....twice this year. The 92 look like the way to go for Ruger type loads. I think the Marlin is at least as strong but like the RV, not an exact clone.

I saw that Rossi is chambering their 92 in .454 Casull.  In this sue-happy society, I don't think they would chance it unless they had a considerable safety margin in the strength of their product.
