UMC 223 ammo
« on: February 13, 2005, 10:08:59 AM »
I asked this question the other day,,,but sorta buried it into another thread that I was responding to.
Anyway......has anyone tried the 223 45gr hp offered by UMC? And if so does it shoot as well as the Winchester USA/whitebox 45 hp?  The cost of each is comparable.   Thanks for any response.

I haven't tried the UMC 45 gr but I have a bunch of UMC 55 gr FMJ.  It doesn't group well at all.  I just use it to get my sights on paper.  I'll let my son shoot the rest and reload the brass.

I have the UMC 45 gr HP's.  I am getting about a 1 1/2 in group at 100 yds with my NEF Lite model (short tapered barrel) with a Tasco 6-18 variable set at 12x.  I am getting ready to try it for coyotes.

The UMC 55 gr FMJ shoots really good out of my bull barreled handi. about an inch group at 100 yards, but the Win. white box 45 gr hp does alot better.
