Graybeard, Help.....
Several times lately I have logged on, read a bit, then wrote a brilliant reply to something, then when I clicked submit it took me back to log on and my brilliant reply vanished. Once in a while I figure it is me, but it has happened several times today. Are we having hacker problems again or is it on my end. I think I am doing everything like I am supposed to.

Just to save myself some grief and frustration, I always copy my post before I hit the submit button, then if it disappears into cyberland, I can recover quickly and move on.... :wink:

Sessions are currently set at 20 minutes. Thirty is the maximum the software will allow. When we had it set there we were having problems due to so many folks being on line trying to read and post at same time. So we dropped it to 15 minutes. I upped it to 20 to see if it's OK or will give more problems. So far it's working OK at 20 minutes.

BUT that means you have 20 minutes MAXIMUM to type it in and get it posted.

Now for another hint over and above the one already given. Open two windows. HOW? Click FILE NEW WINDOW and a new window opens. Now about every ten minutes or so click on something in that new window and then go back to the one you're doing your long post in. That's what I do. Matt composes his in MS WORD and copies and pastes them. Lots of ways around it.

Well I know how time flies when you are having fun but I don't think I have been composing anything for 20 minutes. At least I don't think so. I think I will just do what Quick suggested if I have anything of import to post. Thanks.

Any such problem that happens in under 20 minutes is most likely not related to our server but either to your computer or your ISP. Some ISPs time you out in as little as 5 minutes of no activity and there is a setting on your computer that can be set to whatever you want and if set wrong can also time you out. The 20 minutes is the only setting we have on our server to time you out like that.

I am on cable and my computer is always on. So that is not it. It just may be my computer. It got fried about 18 months ago and was rebuilt. Once is a great while it still does something weird.

Donaldo are you running Zone Alarm Pro for your fire wall? I was having problems that sound very much like what you are experiencing and traced it to ZA. Turns out I had to turnoff the pop up add blocker feature.
You can do turn of the ad blocker for specified web sites so that it is still functional while you surf the net.

I just renewed my Zone Alarm Pro and I too have had some issues with logging onto the site.....it seems that the log on page will not accept the "log me on automatically" check box....And when I type my screen name and password the "cannot be found" page appears,,,then I click the back button and I'm logged on and okay to navigate wherever I want......weird. I too had to re hard drive last spring due to a viral infection.

I to have experienced this problem but only if I don't login from the home page strange thought it was just me being new to the sight
