Read the 2 threads below and you'll learn all you need. Basically you have 2 choices for the re-chamber, rent a reamer and do it yourself or have a gunsmith do it for ya. The only place that has the brass right now is Huntingtons, everyone else was out yesterday, Bell makes it and it can be bought from the owner of Bell, MAST Technology, $182 per 100. Huntingtons' price is $49 for 20. Best price on the brass was at Buffalo Arms, but they have it on backorder.

MAST has 15000 rounds left, after that's gone, demand may result in more being produced, but I wouldn't count on it since they sold the Bell production line that produced obsolete brass....

I'm new too, so don't rely on me for providing reloading info....but....45-120 dies are available from Cabelas for $35, but from what I've learned, I think you can get by with just 45-70 dies without full length resizing, but I'll leave that determination up to those that know for sure. I'm going to be using a Lee Classic cast press since it has a huge opening and should be fine for the big 45-3ΒΌ" case. Hodgdon has load data for the 45-120, both for T7 and smokeless, but I'm only loading T7 since smokeless loads are not reliably consistent shot to shot in the big case.

Mac, I've already invested more money than I intended to and I haven't bought sights yet!! It's turning into one of those never ending projects.....I think! :roll: I only ordered the minimum 100, just to make sure I get some shooting out of the rechambered BC, I was gettin real nervous for a while since everywhere I checked, it was out of stock, then I read that the Bell production line had been sold....Jay, the MAST representative said they didn't know if or when anymore would be produced.....so I ordered 100 which will be all I'll ever need, maybe I'll even share em with someone if they want to..... :wink:

I would have to spring for another 100 just in case...ya know...since they may never be reproduced again...I would hazard a guess though if all production does cease...what their value would be in a few years,,,or their replacement cost....... :eek:

I know it's not quite the same but this month's Reloader magazine has an article by Mike Venturo on the .45-90. You might want to read that before you go all the way to the 120. It seems like the "90" might just be enough.

I can tell you that all my research and reading on which one will work the best, I settled on the 45-90 because of the target work for me.  Its a no brainer as far as a hunting round.

The 45-100 was a great shooter until the 45-90 came on the scene, and then there is the 45-110 which was produced for hunting purposes.  The 45-120 did not make its way on the scene until well into the 1890's when Remington Peters produced the first cartridge casings for it, it was not even a Buffalo Harvest cartridge as it arrived too late.

I hope those loading for the 45-120 take heed and use Fg Goex instead of FFg and only use approx 115.0 gr of Fg.  Remember compression etc....

Hope you got some bengay for after shooting  :shock:  :eek:
