I can tell you that all my research and reading on which one will work the best, I settled on the 45-90 because of the target work for me. Its a no brainer as far as a hunting round.
The 45-100 was a great shooter until the 45-90 came on the scene, and then there is the 45-110 which was produced for hunting purposes. The 45-120 did not make its way on the scene until well into the 1890's when Remington Peters produced the first cartridge casings for it, it was not even a Buffalo Harvest cartridge as it arrived too late.
I hope those loading for the 45-120 take heed and use Fg Goex instead of FFg and only use approx 115.0 gr of Fg. Remember compression etc....
