How's it shoot now?  How big a group for 5 shots, say, at 50 or 100 yds?

What ammo have you tried?  Made any of your own yet?

Zach,
I shot a box of shells today on my handi 223 and got good groups without doing anything.I used the white bix Win. 45 gr.from Wally world.Gander has them cheaper now but not much.I use 3x5 cards and tack up several so I can remember what I'm shooting.I'll soon have some empties for ya.

I would suggest shooting several 3 or 5 shot groups at 100 yards and reporting back to us on how big they are before you start modifying. Around 1 inch is pretty good from a Handi.

I haven't done anything to either my 25-06 or 223 and they will both shoot under an inch at 100y. If it aint broke, dont fix it :D
