This topic has probably come up before, but I didn't find anything via search....
Why is the 26" barrel only offered in 25/06 and 280 rem?

Those two calibers seem to always operate better in a longer barrel.

I think thats right although the 270 would certainly fit in that slot as well. I hate short barrel. I hunt open country and don't carry my rifles through heavy cover and such.

If you hate short barrels, you can get a 45-70 in 32" or a 38-55 in 28". I still think it odd that you can get a .223 in 24", but not 22-250 or .204.
It's tax season, I'm home, and it isn't even 10:00 yet. Will talk more in late April.
