Newby has a question about trigger pull
« on: February 18, 2005, 04:51:54 PM »
I just purchased a 17hmr sportster.  I have been trying to search this forum for a trigger pull fix but I am not getting anywhere.  Does anyone have a concise do it yourself system or am I better off just sending it back to the manufacturer.  Does anyone know what extra barrels are priced like?  I am considering a 22mag barrel for yotes down the road.

Welcome to GBO! :D Go to the H&R Misc forum, there's a sticky at the top called H&R Trigger Hone. You can also download real detailed instructions at http://www.perkloafm.com/  I use Perklo's instructions for R&R and Raynor's honing instructions.

:D , Welcome aboard Duckslayer, save a little more money and get another gun instead of just another barrel. Either a Sportster in .22 Mag (my preferred coyote set up with a survivor stock and a red dot sight) form Wal Mart for $103.62 or get a nice Ultra Varmit in .22 Mag for about $134.00 from Wal Mart. The Ulra Varmit comes with a Bull barrel and a nice laminated stock, pretty and good on the bench but in my estimation to heavy to lug all day for coyotes, as least the way I hunt them, for you it might be fine. I understand out west there may not be as many miles of walking through thick woods to setup and then back out again every half hour or so...it all depends on your type of hunting. What would think about carrying that .17 HMR through the woods all day? If that would be ok with you then the Ultra Varmit in .22 Mag would weigh about the same....<><....

P.S. - The .17 HMR and .22 Mag Bull barrels are $63.00 each and the .22 Mag and .22 LR (both standard weight barrels) are $59.00 each and each of those barrels come with an included scope rail.   Add a $15.00 fitting fee, return shipping of about $10.00 and the cost to you for shipping the reciever and stock to them (about $10.00)  for your total cost of each barrel. That Is why I suggest buying another complete gun from Wal Mart for $103.62....
