This is on a 50 Sidekick, haven't shot full power loads yet. Wondered that myself, my hunting load is 80 of loose 777. Have shot it and know problems, actually a nice balance and feel to the rifle. I've never liked any hammer guns scoped, just for the reason of access to the hammer.
The Encore base fits the contour of the barrel on the Sidekick perfectly, almost like it was made for it. I would think with all the bearing surface from the perfect match between the barrel and base that there should be no reason for it to shear.
Hey, if they do shear and someone gets a scope in the puss I'm not responsible. Just showing you all what my solution is, not saying everyone should go and do it. Especially on a 45/70 with full power loads.
Attemp at your own risk!!! Not responsible for any deaths, injuries, missing eyes, you get the picture !!! There,,, covered my butt.
~~ Have fun, shoot safe ~~
