Tanoose, What a place that H&R is, to know it is to love it!!! I just called and ordered a Mannlicher stock (I think!) they took the order only because I said you had just ordered one, the number this CS person has was S0330, and the price of $26.30!!! But it showed none in stock and that none had been ordered in a couple of years!!! Anyway I was asked how much and I said $30.00 so the order was put through (at $30.00). If they have one I get it, if not I don't. I was told perhaps "Jennifer" knows about them and that if there is anything of anything left in the stock room that "Jennifer" was the one that would know...Also some nice talk about how busy they were and how much there sales had increased, they must be doing something right.
About my smooth walnut stocks on my brand new TDC...I was told it was simply a matter of how that run of guns was ordered and they could be special ordered in batches of 50 or more by a distributor with special features, like smooth or checkered stocks. Everyone there has a different story but they all seem to try to help as much as they can. It would be nice if all companies tried to be as helpful!!!....<><....

Hey Deadeye47 I am curious as to what kind of scope is on your rifle and what height of rings did you use? I tried putting a Bushnell Banner 1.5 to 4.5 on mine with high rings and I still didn't clear the hammer. I am just curious.

257robt..that is a Weaver mount from Wally World...I used it in a pinch.( I like Millet  )..I really don't care for the set up....I've had scopes twist in the rings under recoil (30-30...corse a shim might help  ) and also ya can't put one of the dang things on without scratching your scope... the hammer just clears using them ...I have two sets of these rings and I need to change um out...that picture is of a 45-70....so far the Banner is still straight on the 45-70.... 8)

Never having owned a rifle with a Mannlicher stock, I'm a little curious how the accuracy compares to a shorter forearm.  It seems to go against everything we try to do to free float the barrel.  I always blame the barrel band on my Win 94s for their less than wonderful accuracy and the Mannlicher stock has a similar arrangement.

On the other hand they do look really cool.
My prayers are always answered,  sometimes the answer is no...........

One Hole 45-70, thats a great idea about sending a H&R Mannlicher stock to Gunstocks Inc to have them duplicate it or at least get the measurements on file. It would sure be nice in Walnut!!! I am going to check mine out when it arrives and then I may call them to see if they are interested....<><....

Let us know when the new stock arrives.  I'm curious how it's going to look.  Any more thoughts on sending it to Gunstocks, Inc?  I'd really rather have one of theirs since they look so nice in any grade of wood.  I don't know who came up with the term "pallet" wood but it's just about perfect.  Did the factory give anyone a specific delivery date?  Waiting patiently......

Just thought of one last question-  Does anyone know what the barrel contour is?  The only pic I've seen is one on a 45-70.  How will it match up with my Ultra .308?
