Does anyone use a rifle scope for ,223?

The recoil of the .223 seems light. I was wondering if it is light enough to allow the use of a rifle scope. Thank you for any info.

Not a problem.
Still need to back off of it to see how much your average kickback is going to be based on your grip, overall weight of gun, etc.

Sure work sweet with a Carbine.....I can't see how it would be accurate in a hangun configuration though.
....make it count

I use a 8 x 24 on a 14" 222Rem.  Makes it easier to see the target at 100 yards.  Best group so far has been .370".  Here's a picture.

One thing that I forgot to mention, is that I have about 8oz of lead in the forend.  It helps hold it steady on the bags and reduces the recoil.  I cast  5 pieces of lead 3/4" in diameter and epoxied them into holes in my custom forend.  Here's a pic.

I use one on a 221, 222 mag and lately a step 7tcu.  Haven't had a problem yet.  Not  been tapped yet.  Really makes it easier to shoot smaller groups after getting use to the close eye relief

Need to let you know that although I have not used rifle scopes on Contenders or Encores.  I have used rifle scopes in the 20-24 power range on XP-100's and the MOA Maximum (Falling Block Rear-Grip Specialty Handgun) from cartridges in 260 Rem. to beyond the 300 Win Mag. class with success.  Priimary cartridges have been 260 Rem, 284, Win, 6.5-284, and soon to be 7mmWSM.  The 7mm WSM will have a high magnification Leupold Variable on it as it's primary scope.
My uses are for bench use at short range (100-200 yards) and long range (1k and beyond). Yes, I do pull away from the ocular, so I do not see a full field of view and these barrels are braked or ported.

In the 2005 Burris catolog they show a series of scopes called "Short Mag" that have a longer eye relief, 3.75 to 5 in. on the vari.  Cost seems to be in line with other Burris scopes.  Wonder how one of these would work?
