Opinions - 209/4 Primer vs. 25ACP
« on: February 20, 2005, 04:10:01 AM »
Now that I have a source for the 209/4 (and BM3 appears to have solved the crud ring problem) is there a significant advantage to using the ACP??  One initial thought is that the ACP seals tighter and may reduce blowback into the action.  Any other thoughts??

Thanks!

I use the .25ACP with BM3 and find the cases easier to handle than the 209 primers. Less chance that the primers will get stuck and difficult to remove although that has not been a big problem with my Omega. I guess if you can find the 209/4 primers (which I cannot locally) it is probably a lot of money to spend for the slight advantage of easier handling. I also have a ton of once fired .25brass so that is not a problem for me which is another thing you have to figure on. I do not get any blowback although I don't remember much with the 209 primers either although that has been a while since I used them.

Definitely ease of handling and less blowback.  As for effects on accuracy, who knows.  The ACP lets you try many different primers...I really don't know just how much weaker the 209-4 is than regular 209s.  If you have 209-4s, try them first.  If accuracy is good, probably don't need to spend the money.

I guess I am another one that like's how easy to handle the 25ACP case compared to the 209 primers. And no extractor.  :D

Redhawk: I'm just starting to realize how intelligent you are; you tend to agree with me a fair amount of the time. A friend of mine once told me you can tell how intelligent someone is by how often they agree with you.
