Why was the TC System One rifle discontinued? It did have interchangeable barrels in .54, .50 and .12 ga. Was it the 1:38 twist? I had a FireHawk and liked it alot, but the cleanup wasn't as easy as my Encore. Maybe I just answered my own question.

By the way if anyone has a System One stock with lock I am looking for one. Thanks in advance.

As I understand the System 1 being discontinued, it was the factory fire (in '94) that distroyed the inventory, the plans and the machinery. I have a System 1 with all 5 barrels. .32, .50, .54, .58, and 12ga.
I like the .32, .50 and 12ga., but haven't fired the .58 or the .54. It does require a little more effort to break down and clean. I can clean my T/C New Englander in less time. Dixie Gun Works still has some new System 1's with .50 and .54 in SS and Blue.

Thanks for the reply Lefty41. I forgot they also had a .32 and .58 cal. barrel. I may be getting a .12 ga. barrel soon and will be looking harder for a stock then. I hate to pay $300 for a .12 ga. barrel and forearm for my Encore so hope this works out. I will check out Dixie Gun works too.

From Dixie's home page, just do a search using System1. It should show several barrels and complete rifles.

I have a .50 System 1 that's new and been under my bed for awhile. If you are interested drop me an e-mail. I also have a .32 caliber barrel for it if you are interested in that also. My e-mail is cphorty@aol.com.

Don't know about anyone else but I like the 1:38 twist. My Thunderhawk is really accurate.

Snicker, wish I had seen your post this morning. I got a .50 System 1 off gunbroker this morning for $149.95 new in box. Could you have beaten that price? Check is in the mail for a new 12 ga. barrel too. Hope to have the rifle and barrels by the first of the month.

Just curious, what are you asking for the .32 barrel?

Think you got a good deal on the rifle. I couldn't have beaten that price but probably close. I would take $140 shipped for the .32 caliber barrel. I've cleaned it but it has not been fired. They are getting pretty rare and I've seen them for as much as $250. I use a Firehawk .32 caliber that's a little lighter and a little better balance and with the Black Mag 3 powder it cleans up real good. Wish they would offer a .32 caliber barrel for the G2. I think that would be real slick.

Yeah, I think I got a good price too! I only paid $85 for the 12 ga. barrel new, including shipping, off ebay. I respectfully decline the .32 barrel thanks for asking. I had a .32 Cherokee years ago, love the gun and shot one big hole at 25 yds, but squirrels didn't have to worry about me as I couldn't hit them.

I sold it and all my .32 stuff along with the gun when I got my FireHawk. Years later sold the FireHawk to get my Encore. Will never sell the Encore! I am hoping the cleanup with the System One is better than the FireHawk since the barrel comes out along with the breechplug. Did I mention I liked TC products.

I'm not familiar with the System 1. What loads do you shoot with a .32 System 1? patched round balls? maxiballs? Is it drilled and tapped for a scope? Does it have a removable breech plug?

I have only seen the .32 System One barrel in pictures, but as stated above I have the .50 and 12 ga. barrels. The barrel and receiver come off the stock with screws in trigger guard and the barrels are bolted to the receiver by a lug/hex screw. The breech plug comes out as well as the #11 nipple in my rifle. You can also buy musket and 209 convertions. I plan to get the #11 "ring-o-fire" nipple for mine since I have all the makings for that ignition. The receiver is drilled/tapped for a scope also.

Loading the .32 barrel 1:48 twist would be the same as any other caliber using either a round ball/patch or maxiball for that caliber. You will use alot less powder though like 10-30 grains being average for plinking to hunting loads.

I know where a .32 System One rifle is new in box if you are interested.

The T/C System 1 owners manual shows a .32 (47 grain RB) load starting at 30 grains FFFG and a max load at 50 grains. Velocity at 30 grains is 1714FPS with muzzle energy (foot pounds) at 307. the max load shows 2055FPS and 441 ft lbs.
They used to make a .32 Maxi-Ball (103 gr.) and again powder from 30 to 50 grains of FFFG. FPS from 1418 to 1749 and Ft lbs. from 460 to 700.
The T/C System 1 seems to be a little stronger maybe than some of the older side-lock .32's (I don't know).
Buffalo also makes a ball-et in .32 cal. weighting 70 grains. As you can see, there are several choices if you can find them. In Marion, OH there is a man that has the T/C mold for the Maxi-Ball and is at the PRO guns shows in central Ohio (Columbus, Wilmington, Springfield). Sorry, but don't remember his name right now.
As toytruck said it does have a removable breech plug, but you remove the trigger guard which releases the barrel and action from the stock, then with an allen wrench you remove the barrel from the action. Now the nipple and breech plug may be removed. I have the hardwood stock with all barrels being blued.

I know of one for sale, NIB, for $340. It's been listed for a while. It is very tempting but I'm not sure I can justify it. I've got more guns than I can shoot now. Plus I picked up a 12ga flintlock last fall for squirrel hunting that I should get to know better.

Sounds like we might be talking about the same .32 System One rifle. The one I saw was at KTP Used Guns www.ktpguns.com for $339.95 NIB.

Yes, I was also looking at the one at KTP. I'll keep an eye on that one but it probably doesn't make sense for me. I can talk myself into a .32 but I don't really have a need for the "System" part. At least I'm not interested in .50, .54, or 12ga barrels. If the .58 barrel shoots PRB well, that might be something to consider. Maybe I'll keep an eye out for a cheaper .32 T/C Firehawk.

The T/C Firehawk in .32 I have is real sweet to shoot. It likes between 20 and 25 grains of BM3 with a maxi-ball. Have not shot a round ball in it. The Firehawk is a little lighter and a little better balanced than the System One. I had a System One barrel in .32 that sold pretty quick. Anyhow the Firehawk is a little more difficult to clean as it does not have the removeable breech plug. There is a man in Washington State that sells underhammer guns and you can get maxi-balls from him pretty reasonable. He makes them in 103 grain from a TC mould or 110 grain from an NEI mold. As far as the Firehawk being cheaper than the System One, I'm not too sure about that. The .32 Firehawk is getting real scarce and TC only made them one year. Wish I could find a TC .32 maxi-ball mould but have not been able to find one yet.
