I finally got out my new 209x50 barrel for my encore and shot it today. I was well impressed at 75 yards with it. I was shooting 777 90 grains with a 250 grain hornady sst.  I was grouping about 3/4 of an inch. They were a bit tough to load, but, I think when the weather warms a bit they will load better. Anybody else been out doing any shooting?

Hmmm...It's a little cold for me to really enjoy shooting.  I would like it to be above 40 at least...I know, I know...I hunt in the 10 degree weather but I don't feel like going to the range in those temps...Soon enough though.

Thats pretty much how I feel about it. I put a Simms Limbsaver recoil pad on my Encore and want to get to the range and try it out. Its just been too cold or been too busy to get there.

Better days are coming :-)

I took my longest shot on a deer this year with my Encore.  Lazered at 135 yards.  I used two 50gr pellets of 777 and a 295 gr powerpoint.  I know 135 doesnt seem all that long to some folks on these forums..but us New Yorkers know thats a long shot for these woods.

The shot was quartering towards me and although the powerbelt didnt exit, it sure did expand perfectly blowing thru the front shoulder and lodgeing in the rear hip bone.  Deer went 10 yards and piled up...

I also put a sims on the gun and I swear by them now!  I sighted in at 100 yards and am able to put 3 shots in a 2 inch circle every time with mine...which is more than good enough for me.
