Flit?? Liquid or Paste?
« on: February 17, 2005, 06:39:39 AM »
I went to the hardware store today looking for the Flitz Metal Polish and all the had was the liquid in a bottle and it said it contained no Ammonia or Abrasives. Will this work the same as the the paste in the tube?

Flitz actually uses diatomous earth as the polishing compound. This si the microscopic skeletons of plankton like animals that have been deposited in huge beds. These skeletons are made of calcium materials and have been used for centuries as a polishing compound and as a filter. The word diatomous is from the Greek meaning to cut thru.

Flitz did a great job on my barrel. It cut my group size by at least one half.

I would think the liquid would work easier than the paste as I usually add a little kano to the patch when using flitz or JB anyway....FWIW, JB Bore non-embedding compound also contains diatomaceous earth. Great stuff!

The procedure is in the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum under barrel break in.
