I've been looking at getting a new knive and have been looking at the Buck Special (Buck Model 119BR, fixed blade 6", OAL 10.5").

Does anybody else have this knive and what's your thoughts on it....good or bad.

I don't have one, and can't answer the question, but those that do remember that the new specials(last 3 years) use 420HC while the old ones used 425M for blade steel.

I have one in 420HC steel. I like it alot. It takes a great edge and is not hard to resharpen. It's about as big as I want to go, but it is not too big. Price is pretty good too, think I saw them for around $35 at WalMart.

My thoughts - want mine?  lol.....

Seriously, it's not as bad a knife as their Alpha but it's less bad of a knife for 1/3 the price.

Their Vanguard on the other hand.....I bought one many moons ago and loved it.  It they're still made similarily today I'd probably get another.
