I've been using Star swaged 45ACP bullets for a couple of years and have liked them. But I tried them in a new Kart barrel and WOOOO-EEE! am I getting a lot of leading. The same barrel using hard cast bullets and same load does not lead. Load is light target load for bullseye. I don't know what it is about this barrel, but it's a lead magnet.

It could just be the swaged bullets. Soft lead is easier to swage than hard lead...a lot easier on the dies and equipement. You might want to use a harness tester on those bullets, or contact the company and find out the 'promised' BHN and check them to see if they are correct.

These are soft swaged bullets. Much softer than most cast bullets. That's the difference.

Try using lee liquid alox on the bullets. This is good stuff and may eliminate your leading problems as it coats the whole bullet not just the grooves. Jim
