44 marbles, and 2" 410 bore loading info wanted
« on: February 17, 2005, 01:18:38 PM »
Howdy.  I have a marbles game getter coming my way and wish some info on reloading.  I can resize 410 hulls for the 2" chamber, but need data so I do not lose a hand, or stress the barrels.

Info on what current brass case to use for 44 marbles would be a help as well.....I have heard cut down 303 brit, 44-40 casings and even CCI 44 mag shot would work.  I need some serious help here.  Thanks again for any assistance.

You really need a chamber cast to go very far with this. The Marbles .44 Gamegetter cartridge was a .44-40 loaded with an early shot capsule. For that one, you would just weigh a full capsule and use the starting charge for that weight bullet in a .44-40. I think Speer makes capsules.

If your Gamegetter really is chambered for the 2" .410, and some seem to have been,  you start with .444 Marlin brass. I made some up 30 years ago for a Hopkins & Allen shotgun. Some guns require the rim to thinned from the front and some don't.

There's very interesting discussion related to this going on at http://www.aimoo.com/forum/postview.cfm?id=514616&CategoryID=228143&startcat=1&ThreadID=1907295

You could cut down Magtec .410 brass shells. There are a few threads on reloading them over in shotshell reloading. You would have to use reduced charges to make it all fit in a shorter shell, but it could be done. Blackpowder substitute loads are very easy to make.
If God wanted plastic stocks he would have made plastic trees.
