Original Redfield Illuminator
« on: February 10, 2003, 07:57:17 AM »
I have an original Redfield Illuminator (pre-blount) on a 300 win mag that has been on this gun for about 8 years.  Well, I'm in the process of rebarreling this gun and was wondering if I should keep this scope or go with something new.  I can't say I have ever had a problem with it.  It's just that since I'm re-doing the gun the scope got me thinking.  How do you guy feel about these scopes?  Are they a decent piece of glass or am I better off selling it and buying a Leupold, Nikon, Burris or 4200 Bushnell.

My opinion, if you are going to redo your gun, I would go with a new scope.  Optics have changed in the last 8 years, for the better and I think you would be much happier with a Leupold, Nikon or Bushnell.  I have nothing against Redfield.  Their service has been very good, to me atleast.
