New CZ Mod 712
« on: February 15, 2005, 08:55:03 AM »
:D Hi folks,
I'm interested in a new shotgun. I've liked the quality of the guns from CZ. I was looking at their website and see they are marketing shotguns, both O/U and autos from Turkey.

Has anyone seen the 712 or have experience with them?
Regards,

hey
i have a 712 with 26 in barrel  if you want a great semi for not a bunch of money   buy one    you wont be dissapointed  you can get them for 3 bills or less and they come with a 5 yr warranty   they will accept the barreta/benelli chokes  i shoot the carlsons sporting clays chokes in mine and they are awesome    i am very happy with my 712 and it has functioned flawlessly since day one   only thing you will have to get used to is they are a little tricky to tear down for cleaning the first time you do it
after that its a breeze

They're excellent guns for the money.  Not actually made by CZ (CZ-USA is just the importer.  They're actually made by Huglu in Turkey), but still good guns.  I got mine about a month or so ago.  Cycles everything I feed it and it holds an EXCELLENT pattern with turkey loads (full choke) and 00 buckshot (modified choke).

Only thing about it (and it's not really a negative) is that the load/unload mechanism works . . . differently . . .  than most other semi's I've used (which is basically a Browning A5 and several different Remingtons).  It's hard to explain, but you'll figure it out.  Just don't give up on it (for the first 5 minutes I had mine I thought something was broken :).

:D Thanks to each of you for your reply and I appreciate the CZ forum link. I went to Austin, TX today. The shotgun was exactly what I had hoped it was. It was certainly not fancy, the checkering and stock looked great. It really felt good pointing. I purchased it and bought a few boxes of AA's to try it at the range.
