Found this whilest investigating home bullet lube recipes for cast bullets...The lead removal trick at the bottom of the page was of particular interest to me since I've found no easy way to remove lead from my Black Diamond muzzleloaders shooting the all lead PowerBelts. :wink:

Have you or anyone tried this Cream of Wheat trick?  To me thats almost revolutionary, no leading, use bullets as cast?  It seems too good to be true, and I won't have a chance to try it out for a while, just wondering if anyone has experience with this, especially in Handis.  Thanks,

I read of cream of wheat being used as a filler to keep the powder at the back of the case and it being referred to as "granny's biscuit" loads, but that's the extent of my knowledge on the matter....

About all those recipes recipes call for beeswax which can be hard to find and expensive. If you want to try making your own lube, send $15 to

Ask for a flat rate priority mail box full of beeswax. He'll send you at least ten pounds and the shipping is included in your $15. That's an unbelievable deal and a lifetime supply.

Most of the other ingredients can be obtained from online soap and candle making suppliers. www.thesage.com has decent prices, almost anything need for lubemaking, and a good reputation. I have not ordered from them, but some of the other guys have.

A word of caution with those lube formulas if your going to use them with black powder loads.  Most of those formulas contain to much stuff and are a joke at best.

ANY lube made with paraffin or the such or any product containing Petroleum Distillates do not use with Black Powder or you will get a nice pitch like fouling.

I have made BPCR lube for quit sometime now, but I will not give out my formula for it, because I sell my lube.  8)

Well you could sub the smelly oil for raid bug juice.... will help keep the bugs out of your shooting area  :-D  :-D  :-D
