45/70 Marlin Guide Gun SS
« on: February 21, 2005, 03:27:28 PM »
Any one want to share with me some good load information. I have been shooting 300 gr. HP Remington Factory Ammo. For 100 yards and under they are great. However,  I want to get a longer range load help and experience would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil

You may want to consider reloading. Your bullet selection would be better and you can taylor a load for your gun.  :D

I have been really happy with 405gr Rem bullets and H322 powder.  Excellent accuracy and lots of power.  THe lever 45/70s are a close range afair, probably 200 yards max, even with the heaviest loads.  If you really want longer range then the Barnes X bullets in 250-300 can be driven the fastest without losing bullet performance.
