placed the order yesterday, and midway will have my 45/70 tools and components at my door today. Have to clear out a shelf for another chambering first and decide which way I want to steer for this one, mild or wild??

Just don't lean into the WILD ones at the bench :eek: :grin: . It will remove any doubt of when the hammer fell.

I'll probably push a couple up there just to see how the 32" bbl does, and for the bulk of my shooting, hope I can also get good accuracy performance at or below the speeds I got from the factory rounds I have. It was giving me about 2600 ft-lbs of energy.

Buy 1 box Nosler 300 grain partitions...1 box Remington 9-1/2 primers...1 bag Remington Nickle brass..1 lb. H 4198 powder...1 Lyman "M" die...1 Lee 45-70 factory crimp die...start loading the best jacketed load you'll want to shoot out the 45-70...a slight flare with the "M" die...your brass won't flake or chip...a heavy crimp with the Lee...the pressure will be higher using the Nosler bullet than any-other 300 grainer out there...so doing it this way you will start 3 grains below the start load for the regular 300 grain class 2 loads...I won't tell you what my max load for this is...but with my conversations with Nosler and Hodgdons techs...I was ok...out of my 18-1/2" Marlin Guide gun...I was getting 2300 fps with it...it was stout...but not brutal...and the accuracy was outstanding...1" groups at 100 yards wasn't a problem...and what this bullet does to whitetails :eek: :eek: :eek:

When your ready to try pre-made cast bullets...Cast Performance GC bullets are what I recommend...I was getting 1900 fps... same gun...just slightly larger groups...1"...1-1/2" groups...all 4 of my Marlins shoot these 2 bullets exceptionally well...there may be cheaper bullets to shoot...but I haven't found any other bullets to shoot as well...consistanly...it shouldn't be a problem for you to reach 2600fps out of your 32" barrel...especially with the 300 grain Nosler...
