How about a "mini classic?"
« on: March 04, 2005, 02:38:02 PM »
I see in the earlier listings, everyone loves their model 7's... i know i do...

Been thinking, how about something like a "mini classic" model 7, perhaps patterened after the new CDL but in short action, and weighing 5 1/2 to 6 pounds... Satin finish metal, with floorplate, short action of course, with ebony forend, satin finish walnut.. Maybe chambered in .250 Savage? and .260, 7mm-08, 6.8SPC... would that not be a sweet thing?

What do you say guys, do we need to start calling Remington & getting them on the ball?

Don't tempt me.  :D
The only problem is I already have 3 7-08's, one of which is a model 7.  The other calibre that would interest me is the .260 and I've a custom rig in that.  'Course, it wouldn't hurt to have two of them.  I would imagine the model 7 in a .260 with say a 2x7 compact scope would be an ideal deer rifle for east of the big river.   Or for the purist, a 6.5 Swede.

I've got a XR100 on order that, according to Rem, are 'posed to be shipped "in the spring".  They didn't say which spring.

Seems like a good idea. I like the idea of a more compact rifle, especially for brush hunting. What happened to the good ol' days of the Remington 600, with a bull barrel that was so short and so light it was like you were slinging a feather? I miss those days... .  :D

In 250Savage? Yes please!!!! Pretty pretty please! That would be a gorgeous little rifle for medium game and also teaching kids to hunt.
Cheers...
