your favorite .270 loads and their uses
« on: February 20, 2005, 09:06:20 AM »
I hunt more with my .270 than any of my other rifles. Lots of discussion about .270 and its limits here. What are your favorite .270 loads and what do you use them for? (Or, what would you use?)

Here are mine (usual safety comments apply… work up to charge, check for pressure, use at own risk, etc.).

Factory- Federal 130 hi-shok- deer
Federal premium 150 partition- mule deer, elk

Handloads-
150 partition, 58 gr H4831- elk, mule deer

140 Hornady BTSP interlock, 59 gr H4831- mule deer, pronghorn, sheep

Cheers,

KJ

I highly recommend trying RL22 in 130 to 150 gr  .270 loads. excellent accuracy and velocity.  Nosler bullets are hard to beat and they are bringng the solid base back (see their web site).

My favorite load for my 270 is 130 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips over 58.0 grain of reloder 22 and a federal 210 match primer. Very accurate and a great whitetail load.
