littlered;

I have shot consistantly 2-3inch groups at 125yds with 20ga ush using Remington Ultra Core-Lokts or Barnes Expanders 5/8oz ,possibly could go out alittle further with a more  powerfull scope ,that being said most of my hunting under 100yds so I stick with Lightfield Hybred Exp's just as accurate to 100yds and a lot cheaper.GL

I have been using the Federal Barnes expanders at 100 yards and have grouped them at 1"to 2"apart. They are very consistant and I actually took a deer last year at about 100 yards and he dropped in his tracks .I would not hesitate at 125 to 150 yards depending on the conditions and a good quality scope.

first, i can't say enough about these heavy barrel 20 ga. guns!!!!!! now, about your question, first you have to find a slug that shoots in your gun. i have a ultra 20 ga. and i bought 3 kinds of slugs to start with. remington cor lokt ultra 260 gr, winchester partition gold 260 gr, and federal EXpander 5/8 oz 3''. the rems and the wins wouldlt group inside 6'' at 50 yds :eek:  :eek: then i put the federals in the same hole (3 shots) at 50 yds. since then, after finding the slug my gun shoots good i have shot (3/4") groups at 100 yds and 2" at 125 and 2.5-3.5" at 150 yds. the trick is fiding the slug that shoots good in yours. some body else probley shoots same hole w/ winchester or remington and won't group the federals worth a darn :eek:  ya just gotta fing the slug. these 20 ga. slugs(sabot slug over 1600 fps) also have plenty of power to take the biggest deer out to 200 yds!.
I've got to many but never enough!!!! :eek:

I also shoot the Federal 3 inchers in my ultra 20 ga.  I tried the lightfields, rem. core lkt, and the win. partition golds.  Best I found were the federals.  I get some 1" groups at 100 yards but most are 1-2".  My group expands to 3" at 150.  I'm not saying I can shoot like this in a hunting situation but I wouldn't hesitate with a 150 yard shot.  Good luck! I hope you don't have to go through more than a 100 dollars worth of slugs like I did.
