anybody heard of this?
« on: February 25, 2005, 11:30:03 AM »
Hi

I was on the net today and came accross a website for a bore cleaner called coppermelt extreme that seems pretty interesting. Has anyone heard of it or tried it? The website is coppermelt.com/index.html Let me know what you think. They have a barrel break in routine and I think it might be real good for the black powder guys too.

I think that's from the same or is the same company that sells Montana Extreme which is highly touted on AR....seems to be hard to find though.

It's a Canadian co. out of Alberta but Brownell's and a whole list of American companys are carrying it. Check out the web site. You might find it interesting.

I was just at Sportsmans Warehouse today, they didn't have it there, I looked at all their bore cleaners. If it's as expensive as the Hunter's Extreme Coppermelt at Brownell's, they can keep it, I'll stick with WipeOut, I know it works and doesn't harm my bores and doesn't cost $30 a 3.5oz bottle!!

I read a review on that somewhere last year and the results of it was that it wasn't any better than any other good copper remover.  Gun Tests maybe?  I can't remember exactly.

If you can find some industiral strength ammonia, plug the barrel and pur that in, let it set for 1/2 hour, then scrub the bore out & see how much copper is taken out!

Am I the only one who likes the Outers Foul Out system for removing copper?

I considered a Foul Out unit, but the $100 cost makes it not such a great value. It I want to use an overnight process that works, WipeOut will do that for just a few cents and it works extremely well and is easier to do. The Foul Out chemical costs more than the WipeOut ta boot.
