hi new here and to handguns in general anyways i'm looking for a woods gun of a sort and i think a .44 spl is what i want, but i was looking at some of the single action makers and the only one i found was by emf i think. i kinda want a fixed sight pistol a freedom arms would be nice but out of the question and i don't want to buy a ruger right now. just want a dedicated .44 spl. so does anyone have any experience with the emf? or have another option?

The EMF Hartford Models are imported from Italy. I haven't used one for awhile, but the last I saw was o.k. Most of those Italian SAA replicas need some action work. Often they do not shoot to the sights. The last one I had, a 4 3/4 in. barreled .45 Colt, shot two foot low. I had to do a little file work at the shooting bench. The longer barreled revolvers usually come a little closer.

There are some other SAA replicas that are chambered in .44 Special. The best is probably the U.S. Fire Arms Patent Mfg. Co. in Hartford, CT.

You might try posting in the single action revolver forum.

The .44 Special is a grand ole cartridge--and a good one to have while wandering the trails.
