Standing Revolver
« on: February 23, 2005, 02:25:37 AM »
I need some input on a Standing Class in Revolver. My reasoning is so their would be just one award for 1st place. Maybe a second sucks mug if enough entries. This would be for FP and BB. Before you MD'S think, OH-NO, another class!, it would be a club non-sanctioned shoot. What could be easier for a novice to try? We had a guy show up and shoot a 17x40 with a 4" S&W 29 with the factory checkered grips and factory ammo!  I saved a lot of my old plaques and am having new plates made for an award.  Gary Bennett had a handicap system posted years ago, but I can't find it. I used the middle of the class spread in my attempt at a system.

Revolver Standing Big Bore

Standing INT   28-40
AAA      22-27 (28-25) +3
AA      16-21 (28-19) +9
A      8-15  (28-13) +15
B      0-7   (28-5)  +23

Revolver Standing FP

Standing INT   30-40
AAA      23-29 (30-27) +3
AA      16-22 (30-20) +10
A      8-15  (30-13) +17
B      0-7   (30-5)  +25

What do you think? Heck, we can even call it the "Major Golden" award
It's not how good you shoot, just how good you look doing it!

Its a good idea for getting new members only if you restrict it to real world revolvers with barrel lengths that most folks own.  If it is instantly dominated by 10" FA's why bother, it won't get new members.  The fellow you mentioned was shooting a real world gun with a 4" barrel.
