32-20 / 32 HM
« on: February 18, 2005, 02:15:09 PM »
As I read and shoot other people's weapons trying to make up my old mind about new purchases,  I find myself with a few questions about the 32 Hm.  I suspect that since it is lite in recoil, it can be shot more quickly, but does it have the punch necessary to knock over the plates?
Also curious how the ammo costs compair to .38, and can they be reloaded or are they too small?
Thanks for the info. Gary

The two clubs I shoot at a .32 will take down a falling plate.
As far as price comparison, I don't know for sure but Iassume the .32 ammo will be more expensive than .38. And yes they can be reloaded.

I regulary shoot two Rugers in 32H&R mag., and they can be reloaded the same as any other ctg.  Recoil is comparable to a midrange 38spc with the loads I use. KD targets set for the SASS recomended 158grn mid range 38spc will go down dependable with my normal loads.

The load I use is as follows:
                          Starling brass
                           CCI primers
                           12.5 grn American Pionier Powder
                           115 grn LazerCast RNFP .313dia bullet for a 32-20

I shoot in Frontier Cartridge catagory, BP or BP sub in all rounds.

This load shoots so well in my two Rugers it has became my normal "walk in the woods for fun" gun and load.

I have been shooting and reloading for the .32 Mag since 1983.

It is reloaded even cheaper than .38 Special.
I use 100 grain .32 cal.semiwadcutters.

I always load these to almost 1000 fps.
They are flat shooting and hit harder than you'd believe.
I use it for game hunting for rabbits, squirrel and any varmint thats in season. I have knocked crows out of trees where safe to shoot.
Same goes for the squirrels.
I have a six inch barrel on my pistol.
