Ivory grips for M-27. Where to buy?
« on: February 11, 2005, 01:38:17 PM »
Gents,

I've got a pristine M-27 that was given to me some years back.  It's got a bit of history with it and I'd like to make it all that much nicer with some ivory grips.  Any ideas on where I might find some?  Elephant or mastadon are fine.

Cheers,

Matt

catblaster357,

It's 5".

It was given to me by a good man who bought it to kill another so-called man.  The so-called man had beaten the good man's daughter while they were married and was, at the time of purchase, stalking her while the divorce was in the works.  The good man made very clear the consequences of continued stalking or laying a hand on his daughter.  The good man's daughter has been married for a while now to another good man who treats her right.  That made it time for the gun to leave the good man's house.  My daughter's almost 15-years-old and I'll be sure her husband to be (long ways off I hope) knows the story...

Matt in AK: Eagle Grips can provide Stag, Black Buffalo Horn or Mother of Pearl grips for the M27.  Ajax Grips may be able to provide the Ivory Grips you are looking for.  However, if that doesn't work, I think Eagle Grips can or may provide some Stag grips that they work down to get them smooth, and those are good horn grips.  HTH.  Mikey.

Thanks for the help fellas.  I ended up going with one of the folks Crawfish listed; D. E. Collins.  Once the grips arrive and I put 'em on the revolver I'll be sure and post a photo or two.

This may be getting off topic a bit, so move it if you want.
I e-mailed Collins for information on his Micarta grips, in particular, information on the matreial.
Has anyone here have any experience with Micarta? Is the material durable? etc, etc?

Matt:  those are beautiful looking grips.  I would like a pair to dress my M28/27 for social carry and dress occassions.  May I ask what you paid for those grips?  Thanks.  Mikey.
