Your Favorite Gun Store to buy H&R/NEF Guns
« on: February 27, 2005, 04:06:09 PM »
What is your favorite Gun Store in your area that sells H&R/NEF guns?  I ask because we have none in my area.  My favorite shop is Mulligan's Gun Shop in Ridgeley West Virginia.  He (Terry Mulligan) always seems to have new and used in stock.  The sad thing is that as a Virginia resident I cannot buy there.  But he can do my gunsmithing for me.

Another reason I ask is I figure if any are on my route to the "Great PD Shoot and Social" this June in Oklahoma, that I will stop and check them out.

The local BiMart is my favorite, Jurita is the best salesperson at the Falk rd store, knows the what, how, where and when about ordering firearms and ammo....BiMart is an employee owned Northwestern chain store. Sportsman's Warehouse is a runner up, great selection and fair prices....

I prefer to due business with a friendly mom-and-pop gun shop in my area.

Terre Haute currently has a Super Walmart, and two other gun shops I could deal with. In fact, the largest of these gun shops is supposedly an authorized NEF dealer. But the last time I checked, their complete inventory of Handis numbered one. While I was there, the clerk behind the counter was eagerly trying to sell a Weatherby anti-elephant rifle to some guy, and seemed annoyed by my presence.

Gander Mountain is going to locate here at a vacant Kroger store in April.

Woodbrook Sports in Charlottesville Va. is my #1 choice because they are closest, and I like to support Gun stores. If they don't have an item in stock, they are very diligent in finding it for you. Call Vicky, or Kenny at 434-974-1954 and tell them Vance told you to call.

If you want Big, go to Green Top Sporting goods just north of Richmond right on Route 1 in Atlee Elmont VA 804-550-2188. They stock thousands of guns.

Unless you 're taking a serious detour mine aint on the way to the pd shoot but it's definitley worth a mention. I love goin in and wanderin around Smyrna Sporting goods in Smyrna Delaware. The prices are fair and the guys that work there are knowledgeable and friendly. I have never bought a gun there but they have been a transfer dealer on all of the guns I've bought through gunbroker and gunsamerica. They are genuinely gun people but not the snooty type that are above appreciating a nice old H&R.
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

I guise near the top of my list would be Whittaker near Owensboro Ky. It is like a kid going into a candy store, maybe 200 NEFs and H&Rs plus the rest. :D

Bull's eye in Lawerenceville Georgia. They have the best selection of H&R rifles around here and are willing to swap stocks if the set on the rifle you want don't fit you.

Wal-Mart Most all Handis are $187.70 everyone else around here start at $250.00. I believe in supporting mom and pops but with that much of a price difference I go to Wally World for my Handis. I am on a set income due to being disabled so I have to go the least expensive route.Jimmy

Your judgment is sound. I really like the folks who own and operate the small gun shop I prefer to patronize. But I haven't been blessed with a money tree either. Whenever there is a significant price differential, I'm forced to choose Wal-Mart as well. And I honestly don't see any shame in doing so.

That is the reason the three guns I own all came from Wal-Mart

Whittakers' is my favorite stomping grounds also. He currently has a
38-55 Target, in stock. I have purchased a .223, 25-06,.308 and 20 gauge Ultras as well as a .22 mag. sportster and a Huntsman .50 cal. from him. I got my 45-70 BC from RAYNOR.

Can you say Handiholic! :D

I used to live about a 10 minute drive from Whittakers Gun's-it is indeed a candy shop for NEF-H&R and a whole lot more! Man I miss that place!
