Fox Question
« on: March 09, 2005, 02:59:37 AM »
Last night when I was out with walking the Pug for his evening constitutional, I saw a fox. The fox was 10 yards from the house and inside the spot lights. It looked like he was stalking one of the outside cats. Will fox hunt cats? If so I plan to euthanize (as I live near Austin, TX where it is ok to euthanize coyote but you can't hunt them I have become enlghted to the ways of the liberal environmentalists ) the fox. Will a body shot from a .22mag pistol at 10-20 yards take out a fox?

Thanks,
Doug

On your first question, yes, a fox will positively kill a house cat, and they do it quite a bit.

On the 22 magnum pistol question...

I've actually used my Single-Six for foxes on occasion. I'll admit, that it's not the easiest gun for use on a calling stand, but I have killed a few with it. It'll work fine on a chest shot if you keep the range reasonably short. I prefer 30 yards or less myself for this situation.

I think you'll have a better chance of a quick kill if you'll load it up with CCI TNT HPs. They pack a little more thump than any others I've hunted with.

What Jerry said.   But if they would only kill more cat I would see that as a reason to increase the fox population. No, I`m not a cat fan.
