.357mag carbine
« on: February 04, 2005, 01:45:13 PM »
i took my .357mag carbine to the range the other day. i had put together a 185gr. load for deer and hog,s but didn,t get a shot this season. i was looking forward to seeing it in action.
the load is very accurate, one inch at fifty yards, and a little over two at one hundred.  thats not target accuracy but good out to one fifty or so!
i hunt thick areas so i never see farther than fifty yards let alone shoot any farther.  any of you guys use this cartrige on game?
 thank you

I have killed numerous hogs with a 158grsp over 296 or lil gun ans it works well. Get full penetration even with shoulder shots on these little TX deer. Have had the same luck with good eatin size hogs.

do you ever get bullet failure? like bullets that blow up? i have used a few jacketed hollow points, but they acted like varmint bullets! but i guess a soft point will be tougher? thanks for the input!

What 185 gr. bullet you using ? I use a Beartooth 185 hard cast in my .357 max that I really like and its very accurate.
