I just want to kill them. :twisted: Im not interested in pelts. I don't know what kind of caller to buy or what which gun to use. :cry: Im three choices a .22mag,.223 and .243. These Yotes are eating everything! I have found the remains of turkeys, rabbits and deer! I have not seen one yet but I have found lots to tracks. These things are going to put an end to hunting in this area if someone doesn't put an end to them first. I need all the help I can get!! :x

THis depends on where you live, if you can call them in a shotgun will do wonders at short range, say within 50 yards. If you are making longer shots, anything will work as long as it is accurate, remember that a coyote body only has a kill zone about as big as a 6 inch circle. Hitting that out past 200 yards for most people isnt easy. if you dont get them on the first standing shot you probably arent getting another one. This time of year is tough to call, if you live in an area where people call, they get pretty wise this time of year. If you think there is a big problem call your local game office and find out if there is a government trapper in the area, they can help.

The Goverment has made this problem they reintroduced yotes to this area. They have also raised bag limits for deer. Why they think the heard can take one hunter killin up to five does a year I have no idea! In years past it was one buck and two does max per year!

Yotes are legal to hunt at any time but very few people choose to do so at this time. These people have no idea of the damage being done in our woods. I have heard rumors they are starting to introduce mountain lions in this area. I think this is being done under the pressure of car insurance agany because of their loses do to the deer!

I have .22lr, .22mag, .223, .243, .270, .30-30, .30-06, .300 win mag, 8mm mauser, .35 rem, .35 whelen ,.338 win mag and a few shot guns I think I have it covered :lol:

This is a blackbear area. Do you guys think I should be worried about a bear comming in? My friend Marty killed a bear not to far from here that weighted in at just under 600lbs. He took two good hits from a .300 win mag before it had enough :shock: !!

I am located in south central PA. This is in the middle of the mountains this area has some very heavy cover with a few open areas.

In the past five years I only know of two yotes being killed! I know they are there. I have seen what they have done and I have found lots of tracks.

If you just want rid of them, there is an easy way but don't do it if there are dogs you care about that are in the area.

A friend of mine had this problem of coyotes eating his calves. Rather than sit around and try and hunt them, he went to the fishing tackle store and bought some high pound test line and some treble hooks. He then bought some stew meat and hung the treble hooks from a strong limb about 4 feet off the ground. The coyotes came by that night and jumped up and grabbed the meat on the treble hook and there they hung until morning. He came by the next morning and killed several coyotes with a .22lr to the head. This may not be legal in your area so use this advice with caution.

I am thinking about using my 12 ga/30-06 combo gun. Its an Over Under with one barrel a 12 ga and the other a 30-06. With either a .22 mag pistol or .45ACP as backup.

I just need to mount a night scope on the gun or go out on nights with a full moon.

Hi .223....no one mentioned the caller you spoke of. if your well healed then something in a remote e-caller and some distance.....say 100 yds. is super. If not a Johnny Stewart with the wire from the call to the speaker will do. lotsa dogs fall that way. remember what the other guy here said. this is a tough time of the year for dog shooters. best times is around september.............dumb dog season. the new dogs haven't been shot at or heard every call in the book. its tough now but still beats bar fights for something to do. you can still learn. :lol:

I was actually glad to see a couple of coyotes on my grandmother's farm! Her place backs up to a fairly heavily populated sub-division. I used to hunt quail out there...then those damned stray cats started moving in. The yotes look at a cat like I do a nice juicy T-bone!

I still see the occasional cat lurking in the brush, but nothing like I used to see. I don't know if it's coincidence, but a year after the coyotes moved in....the cats "moved out"....and the quail and rabbits became more plentiful.
