ATI's scout stock with integral mounts for Mausers
« on: February 28, 2005, 03:38:21 PM »
I've been looking for a way to over come having to forge the bolt and drill and tap the receiver on my matching numbers 98 which has a sportersed stock.
A guy at a shop in Sydney told about them over the phone and I looked at their site and like the concept.
Does anyone have one on their Mauser and what is the general consensus on these stocks?
BTW, mine has a standard bent bolt that doesn't need conversion.

Not sure I have seen on the web some guys said they were a pain to fit and that they did not like them. Others said they were ok. I did use the bolt kit on my Spanish 93 and it came out well but I had to get extra high rings for the bolt to clear the scope since the bolt kit is made to go with the stock which sets the scope up high. Fortunately the gun shop had a used pair I got cheap. Though it sets the scope high I may have to get a lace on cheek rest for it or make one. My gun smith thinks it is not a good idea because the scope is not mounted directly to the reciever and that it can move. But then he has never looked at one or have I so I cannot tell you how well it does work. I would do a search on them to see what others think though before buying one. Like I said the bolt kit worked well and I am satisfied with that. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
